Our philosophy

Freedom and autonomy are key when running an Acorn pub, and with the backing of a supportive Head Office team, you can run the pub as your own. Our passion for food lies in finding quality ingredients and our menus have a spine of fresh, seasonal, classic British dishes, complemented by exotic influences from around the world. We also like to keep things interesting on the drinks front. We have extensive wine lists to suit all tastes, and pride ourselves on our ever-changing beer and cask ale line-ups, which are unique to each pub.

Meet the team

We’re the Recruitment Team here at Brunning and Price. We’re passionate about finding warm, friendly and talented individuals to join our pubs. Whether you’re just starting out or looking for the next step in your hospitality career, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Katie

Katie is responsible for leading our recruitment function and the team behind it. With a veritable plethora of recruitment and management experience in both internal recruitment and external agencies, Katie is a true recruitment professional with all the experience and expertise needed to support all our pubs across the UK to attract the best talent in our ever-expanding family of pubs. It’s non-stop in Katie’s world because when she’s not implementing all the latest recruitment strategies, her favourite pastimes as well as looking after her young daughter include travelling, skiing, eating fine food and sampling wines and gin varieties.

Beth

Beth completed her Psychology degree at the University of Wales. She then kicked off her career working as a fraud investigator for the Bank of America (spoiler: it wasn’t quite the Hollywood heist movie she imagined!). She later honed her HR skills working at Airbus, having joined their graduate scheme. Realising that food and drink were much closer to her heart than rivets and wings, she joined B&P in the HR department, later moving to recruitment and the rest, as they say, is history. With the Pant yr Ochain being her local (basically her second office), Beth has since spent many years there honing her social and drinking skills. Despite her love of wine, gin, prosecco, you name it, she somehow finds time for yoga, and looking after her three kids – who may or may not think she works in pub!

Jemma

Jemma’s degree in business studies initially led her into a career as the owner of a successful country pub before joining Stonegate pub group as a recruitment manager. Jemma has a vast knowledge and strong business acumen in all things pubs and pub people and she’s focusing on supporting our southern patch to fill in all the pieces of our people jigsaw puzzle. With a young son to take care of, in her spare time Jemma enjoys cars, cycling, snowboarding and running so as you can guess, she really doesn’t stop!

Russell

Before joining B&P, Russell enjoyed a successful career at a senior level with a well-known recruitment agency and he brings a wealth of recruitment skills and knowledge to the team. Russell is working his magic attracting some extra new talent to the family. Based in Shrewsbury, Russell is a self-confessed football fanatic with a degree in Sports Management and Coaching and enjoys managing his son’s junior football team. When he’s not running around with a whistle in his hand, he enjoys a good night out and has a particular passion for sampling cider.

Lucy

Lucy became part of the Recruitment Team in early 2022, bringing her background in Learning & Development and Recruitment Management from Mitchells & Butlers along for the ride. She’s been busy ever since, finding fantastic people for fantastic jobs across the Midlands and South.Based in the Midlands, Lucy juggles life with her husband, their little boy Jacob, Juno the cat (who runs the show), and Rio the staffy (who thinks he does). Weekends usually mean family adventures, long walks with Rio, and—of course—a well-earned pit stop at a great pub.A self-confessed food lover with a soft spot for a good pinot noir, Lucy’s always on the lookout for the next new pub or restaurant to try. She’s full of energy, passion, and a real love for helping people find their perfect role.

Debbie

Debbie joined in 2023, bringing with her 18 years of experience in retail and 5 years in agency recruitment. She looks after overall recruitment, and international chefs find their perfect role with us! Outside of work, Debbie’s a busy Mom to Lucas (16) and Amber (8), an Olympic Gymnast in the making…watch this space! Life is non-stop, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. When she’s off the clock, you’ll find Debbie playing football for her local women’s team, throwing punches in boxing training, or enjoying a good meal out with her wife. She’s a proud Newcastle United fan, partial to an Asahi, and a total foodie. Debbie is also known as our Social Butterfly, always bringing the fun and energy to any social we have. She’s the first on the karaoke and the last to leave, and almost always the one buying a round of Baby Guinnesses!

The finest of them all

Not to blow our own trumpet but our crew are pretty showstoppingly special! We’ve always known it but when others see it too, we love to shout about it. Check out some of the awards we have been recognised for.
